The Weeknd recently flexed his new wrist bling, making Marvel and watch fanatics drool with envy.
The award-winning singer has acquired a limited edition Audemars Piguet Black Panther timepiece, which costs around USD$162,000 (AUD$215,000). The Weeknd shared pictures and a short video of the Royal Oak Concept Black Panther Flying Tourbillon, as well as the extravagant branded packaging.

The mouth-watering piece features a painted rendition of the Black Panther hero, comprised of white gold. The numerous layers of diluted dark paint have all been meticulously added by hand to reach a balance of texture, contrast and depth. The watch’s specs include a 42 mm sandblasted titanium case, as well as the signature glare-proofed sapphire crystal and caseback. It comes in a two-toned black and purple colourway and includes a black ceramic bezel and crown.
AP CEO François-Henry Bennahmias recently spoke to Prestige sharing, “There was no way we’d have just printed the character on the dial. We wanted to show the craftsmanship, the finishes, everything that Audemars Piguet does, while respecting the integrity of the character … You’re talking about a monster brand called Marvel and a very high-end exclusive brand called Audemars Piguet … We signed our lives in blood because they were going to share their launches for the next five years.”
To commemorate the partnership, AP previously created a one-off version of the Black Panther design. It was auctioned for an incredible USD$5.2 million (AUD$7 million) with all the proceeds donated to non-profit organisations, First Book and and Ashoka.
It’s yet to be confirmed whether the artist was gifted the watch for his efforts on the film’s soundtrack, or whether he was part of the design process. Only 250 of these timepieces are being released to the public so if you’ve got the cash be sure to get in quick.
