The contention surrounding DONDA is getting infinitely more bizarre. While Drake and Soulja Boy have taken aim at Kanye West for a multitude of different reasons, a British pig with an enormous global following has also thrown her hat in the ring. The iconic Peppa Pig has trolled Ye on Twitter, calling him out for his ‘less-than-impressive album reviews.
Taking a jab at Kanye in a now-deleted tweet, Peppa Pig made mention of the 6.0 score DONDA received by prominent music website Pitchfork. While not horrible by any stretch, it fell agonizingly short of eclipsing the 6.5 ratings the loveable English animated pig’s new record, Peppa’s Adventures: The Album received from the same site. Cue the world’s most unexpected dragging.
“Peppa didn’t need to host listening parties in the Mercedez-Benz stadium to get that .5,” Peppa’s official Twitter account posted on Wednesday, followed by a dropped microphone and a pig snout emoji, as well as side-by-side pictures of the two reviews.
As the world is well aware, DONDA was touted to be Kanye’s magnum opus. Several listening parties at football stadiums in Atlanta and at Chicago’s Mercedes Benz stadium — one where he married estranged wife Kim Kardashian as “performance art” highlighted the lead-up to the album release, which dropped on Monday. But sadly, the reviews for the latest release have failed to live up to the hype.
Fans aren’t the only ones disappointed by the album. Kiss Me Thru The Phone rapper Soulja Boy has slammed Kanye on Twitter in an expletive-filled rant, claiming he was cut from the album after being asked to record a verse for the track “Remote Control”.
“U Pussy. U really wore that trump hat too. You did a lot of corny shit in ur career and got a pass. Bitch ass n***a apologize to Taylor swift @kanyewest,” he wrote in one tweet. He then followed it up with an old photo of himself and with Kim Kardashian which read, “I was the first rapper with @KimKardashian, not u @kanyewest.”
Say what you will about Ye, but you have to admire his ability to get people riled up. Pulling Soulja Boy out of obscurity for Twitter beef is one thing, but getting slammed by Peppa Pig is next level. Here’s hoping the DONDA train keeps rolling.
